China will just produce their own chips driving production cost lower and putting competitors out of business. It has happened so many times with other industries China now dominates, so why would semiconductors be any different? :text-green-game-over:

@urrywest Comparative advantage at some stage always has an element of exploitation. However as others move up the value chain countries tend to specialize in particular goods that make them unique or indispensable due to either location or product differentiation. Big difference is China is promoting such progression in exchange for peace and stability, which facilitates trade, while the west specifically prohibits such actions in an attempt to extract as much wealth as possible, peace and stability be damned or even profit from the lack of...🤣😂🤣😂

@urrywest Stability of their profits are not in question since they do require exploitation of others in order to secure them in the first place. Of course some industries would be curtailed while others would be increased, most likely with an overall net benefit otherwise the Chinese would not be pursuing this. The Chinese model is very different then that of western colonialism.

@urrywest Well we all know the Roman Imperialist model is not built to last as we have seen numerous empires fall only to be replaced by another. The Chinese model would have been relatively stable to date if not for the colonial aspirations of western nations in the 1800s. I believe if defended with a strong military the Chinese model should last the test of time since military weakness in the past seems to be the only reason the Chinese people were subjugated and exploited. China doesn't call it the "Century of Humiliation" for nothing you know...🤣😂🤣😂

@urrywest Eric Li is an excellent source with his view into the Chinese model and how he defines the use of capital versus the western model. I believe his lectures and interviews speak to this issue and highly recommend his insight since he addresses these concerns in a down to earth manner.
