The best option for the US is to allow the Chinese manufactures to produce the cars in the US with locally sourced components to compete with Tesla and other manufacturers like they do in China. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Outright banning them will only stagnant the US auto industry with no innovation due to lack of competition. In the end all you will get is higher prices and inferior products.

@mingouczjcz3800 Costs will increase, however the savings will be greater than a complete ban of Chinese EV imports. It allows the US auto industry to continue with new competitors and better products. It's about striking a balance, which is a win-win for everyone.

@mingouczjcz3800 Of course there would be savings because Chinese manufacturers are more efficient. Elon Musk has been incorporating Chinese manufacturing processes from Tesla Shanghai to Tesla Fremont because Shanghai is way more efficient. This isn't an assumption, it's a proven fact.

@ZweiZwolf That's perfectly fine since it falls under the USMCA. However since EVs are highly automated you could have the factory in the US and the labor difference would be minimal. Everything needs to be taken in account before choosing a site for production.

@rap3208 EV production is highly automated, so wages and overhead are not a factor. Supply chains can be built out in Mexico to take advantage of USMCA. Why post when your argument can easily be refuted?
