US sent 40 billion to private weapons manufacturers for systems that can't stop hypersonic missiles, which China and Russia both have...🤣

@KomenJolokia Those missiles enter the stratosphere and re-enter to achieve their velocity. You're comparing apples to oranges...

@mudshovel289 Traveling at speeds over Mach 6 with high maneuvering capability towards a slow moving target will result in a catastrophic loss. China can always saturate the target with conventional missiles and decoys before deploying hypersonics. The age of naval supremacy is over...🤣

@djibicisse Better than taking 20 years, 4 presidents, and 2.2 trillion dollars for the US to replace the Taliban with the Taliban...🤣
1
@KomenJolokia No, you have the standard acceleration of gravity plus the velocity at re-entry. Apples and oranges...🤣

@KomenJolokia The method in which intercontinental ballistic achieve their high velocity versus the method hypersonic missiles use to achieve similar velocities are different. You can't claim because the end result of high velocity is the same the method used to achieve those results are the same.

@KomenJolokia Then why bring intercontinental ballistic missiles into the conversation if not for comparison reasons?

@KomenJolokia AEGIS SBT is the only system that claims it can counter some hypersonic threats, but only in the latter part of their terminal phase. So maybe it can counter hypersonic glide vehicles, but for hypersonics that use boosters and scramjets that would be a firm no.

@KomenJolokia These systems use a combination of external and internal guidance for different phases of the missile's trajectory, so the issue of networking with the payload is a non-issue. Space or aerial assets can always confirm if the target was reached and the level of damage it caused.

@KomenJolokia China is concerned because deployment of a missile defense system increases first strike capability. US could strike Chinese assets then pick off the remaining incoming missiles during the inevitable retaliatory strike. China of course could do the same thing, so this raises tensions in the region for everyone while the US sits comfortably 7,000 miles away.

@mudshovel289 Do you actually believe the Chinese are not using a combination of external and internal guidance for different phases of the missile's trajectory? What you're describing is basically a situation involving 1960s technology, things have evolved since then you know...🤣

@mudshovel289 I don't know, that's most likely a state secret. My guess would be using a combination of external and internal radar, external satellite and aerial communications, an internal system based on speed, velocity, position, etc, with predictive algorithms up to and include AI generative data all packaged with the ability to rapidly switch inputs while correcting any variances that may be present.
