In the end the US will only be sending their thoughts and prayers to the Filipinos...🤣

The Spanish-American Treaty of 1898 clearly stated that the western limit of the Philippines did not include the Spratly Islands. When the Philippines gained independence in 1946 the US government told the nationalists not to include the Spratlys in their territorial claim for fear of running into conflict with the Chiang Kai-Shek regime in China.

@pitchiechescka7130 Why do you keep ignoring the issue of Philippine independence in 1946? This would have been when the Philippines declared the territory of their newly established country, which did not include the Spratlys. These facts can easily be verified. Philippines had their chance, but chose to follow the Americans instead...🤣

@mauriscasapao3197 Duterte had a deal win Xi to keep the status quo in the South China Sea. Philippine government knew this including the incoming cabinet of Marcos, but chose to do the bidding of the Americans instead. Everything started when the Filipinos didn't keep up their end of the bargain.

@Sean-giang Iran attacked Israel in retaliation for the consulate strike. Where's the US attack on Iran? I don't think China is remotely afraid of the US...🤣

@pitchiechescka7130 Philippines should have included the territorial claim in 1946 when they gained independence. You forgot to mention that part...🤣

@pitchiechescka7130 Filipinos can't even stop the water cannons. We all know what will happen when the real guns come out...🤣

@pitchiechescka7130 I see that you're ready to die for the empire just like the Ukrainians...🤣

@Sean-giang No they don't because China made a declaration in 2006 in accordance with Article 298 of UNCLOS that excludes acceptance of compulsory dispute settlements concerning maritime delimitation, historic bays or titles, as well as military and law enforcement activities from the dispute settlement procedures provided for in UNCLOS. In other words China does not accept the PCA settlement because it excludes acceptance as provided in the UNCLOS convention. Check and mate...🤣

@xiaozihua Well that means I'm winning since they have no real argument...🤣

US will then goad the Philippines into a proxy conflict with China. Ask the Ukrainians how's that working out? 🤣

Jeoffrey Maitem, Ex-Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte’s South China Sea ‘deal’ with Xi Jinping sparks calls for treason charges, South China Morning Post, April 15, 2024

@LeeSkJohn-sv8wi Sean-giang is the resident troll. When you point out he's wrong he replies with strawman arguments. You can't win, so drop the red pill and watch him squirm...🤣

@Sean-giang I guess Duterte did take some "shit" from Xi if he agreed to this...🤣

@mauriscasapao3197 "Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo told a House of Representatives hearing last week that China had sought a 50-50 per cent revenue-sharing deal on the joint project rather than a 60-40 per cent arrangement in favour of the Philippines." SMCP Morning Desk, Philippines’ South China Sea deal with Beijing hits another snag over profits, South China Morning Post, September 6, 2022

@Sean-giang "The Convention, however, does not address the sovereignty of States over land territory. Accordingly, this Tribunal has not been asked to, and does not purport to, make any ruling as to which State enjoys sovereignty over any land territory in the South China Sea, in particular with respect to the disputes concerning sovereignty over the Spratly Islands or Scarborough Shoal." - Section 5 , PCA Case 2013-19

@mauriscasapao3197 Actual China does have economic rights to the territory since it's their territory. What country doesn't have economic rights to their own territory?
1
@Sean-giang ...but it includes the maritime portion surrounding the territory of China up to and including China's EEZ.
1
@Sean-giang "Similarly, although the Convention does contain provisions concerning the delimitation of maritime boundaries, China made a declaration in 2006 to exclude maritime boundary delimitation from its acceptance of compulsory dispute settlement, something the Convention expressly permits for maritime boundaries and certain other matters." - Section 6 , PCA Case 2013-19

@Sean-giang Not really since the declaration was made in accordance with article 298 of UNCLOS, therefore it's binding...🤣

@Sean-giang "When signing, ratifying or acceding to this Convention or at any time thereafter, a State may, without prejudice to the obligations arising under section 1, declare in writing that it does not accept any one or more of the procedures provided for in section 2 [compulsory dispute settlement] with respect to one or more of the following categories of disputes: 1) Compulsory Third-party Adjudication 2) Compulsory Conciliation 3) Optional Conciliation 4) Exclusion from dispute settlement" - Article 298, Section 2, UNCLOS

@mudshovel289 The only Chinese fighting for Ukraine are ETIM who are terrorists, so who cares what they think.

@mudshovel289 Who cares what they think. Why do you bring something that's totally immaterial to the conversation?
