Taiwan needs to start the process of re-unification and cut the best deal they can get as an autonomous region before they run out of bargaining chips. Following the US down the primrose path is only going to end in their complete destruction as a viable economic entity.

@noahway13 Marshall Plan was in the 1950s, things have changed since then boomer. In fact if you add up all of the sanctions, coups, and military inventions the US has inflicted on various countries throughout the world you end up with a net deficit. I can't believe I'm responding to a comment that pretty much ignores the last 60 years of US hegemony and the untold human suffering it has caused.

@curtistellvik8896 Taiwanese military would be crushed like a bug with all the hypersonic missiles the PLA have in their arsenal, no invasion necessary. In fact here's a little taste of what would happen if they decided to lob a few over the straights, see below. All that damage you see is from eight Russian Kalibr missiles. @noahway13 I see that you're pedaling more boomer BS. Iraq didn't provoke the US, neither did Syria, and the US is still occupying both countries even after being told to leave. Now the US can only invade countries that do not have a competent A2/D2 system. Because of this evolution in warfare the US can't project power since their fleet of carriers would be targeted and destroyed by hypersonic and/or saturation missile attacks. Iran just attacked Israeli assets in Erbil. What's the US going to do about it? Absolutely nothing since the alternative would end with retaliatory strikes crippling US military installations throughout the region. The US doesn't go to war with anyone that can actually fight back, this is a fact.
