TikTok should just move offices back to Singapore and let the US ban the app. TikTok will still have almost a billion users plus it will become the "forbidden fruit" among Americans.

@hongluong3427 No, because the propaganda value is just too great. Imagine that if TikTok is banned half of America and all of China will be angry at the US government. It would be the same for companies like Temu and Shein since removing low priced goods from the market will hit people directly in the wallet and generate even more anger.

They were, however many decided to leave the market or in the case of Facebook was banned for not complying with Chinese law.

@100c0c So your argument is you have a right to free speech, but only on the platforms allowed by the government. Think about what you're saying for a moment.

@100c0c There's a difference between a private company denying access to an individual and the government denying access to a platform. The government has a very high bar to clear when applying "time, place and manner" restrictions and the legislation clearly does not pass the test.

@100c0c We also haven't touched on the right of the people peaceably to assemble, which TikTok as a medium regularly provides. Remember, rights are not abridged because you shift from the physical world into the digital.

Basically congress has stated that you have a right to free speech, but only on the platforms allowed by the government. SCOTUS here we come...🤪

Americans will soon learn how to use a VPN and side load apps. Who would of thought that instead of China becoming more like the west it was the west that was becoming more like China.

@100c0c The "Public Square" doctrine is well established and even private property can be considered platforms for free speech. It does not change because the public square moves from the physical world into the digital. SCOTUS will eventually hear these arguments because it's too important from them to ignore.
