  1. If given an ultimatum most of these countries for economic reasons would obviously choose China over the US, but they don't want to deal with the retribution the US would ultimately unleash.

  2.  @johnlui9563  I wish it was only sanctions, but US retribution usually includes asset seizures, terrorism, regime change, military interventions, etc.
