  1. A smart gun is not only a bad design choice, but also incredibly hard to do it right. Fingerprints, sensors, passwords, if those (and you!) don't work perfectly in a split second you will loose your life. That said, is not like it can't be done. Imagine a gun that will only work from your holster, if it fails, it should unlock the gun so the user don't have any surprises. It could work to avoid accidents with kids but it wouldn't stop anyone determined to make it work. It won't happen because of the "every gun must be a smart gun" pieces of legislation.
