V T you don’t even need that much, just let it track a soldier head movements so it can guess the general area of the threat and let the i.a. track and engage those targets after the first shoot has been fired. A optic is a unnecessary complexity. It would only need to track the soldier's compass so it knows where to look at, ia can determine by itself with more certainty if the element is hostile. Of course you could use a safety feature or two as well, but this would make its use very intuitive.

Gus Gone keep in mind that those things are great not only to fighting, you could carry extra supplies (like water) to make the routine of the soldier a little less taxing. If you are smart enough, you could use one of these with a slightly different configuration to look for IED and hazard free routes just ahead of the convoy, making the humvee again a little more viable (and logistically interesting for your everyday operations). It really depends of how much these things would cost and its resistence to hacking, but it is something worth to pursue, for sure and i.a. requirements are mostly already met. I would make those things as cost effective as possible but i can see the army favoring modularity instead. And one of those can be very cheap, most of the cost would be a machinegun and armor against small arms fire and you don’t need the most expensive equipment for every application. But i would stay away from batteries though, a small rotary diesel engine would be more reliable from years to come.
