  2. It's just a new iteration of "attwhore". And it will only get worse because we as a society are going insane. We have the illusion that humans are creatures of reason and logic but I don't think it has ever been the case. Religion, myth and ignorance have kept us borderline sane but even the most grounded person can snap given enough pressure, and there is a LOT of pressure to be political or have a opinion about anything these days. It's not that different of Qanon, Flat Earth, and progressive thinking taught at universities these days.
