Phoebe Smith this is probably the truth, a f-35 is heavier, only has one thruster even if a powerful one, no thrust-vectoring and no canards. That said, it probably wasnt built with that in mind, specially considering how expensive it is.

Phoebe Smith yeah, thats one of the main complains about it, but these planes still have enough speed to get out of a fight and would be properly escorted by more maneuravable (and cheaper) aircraft to do the fighting. At least in theory. Its a great plane for certain situations and has technology that would be unobtainable otherwise, so its a nice aircraft to have if not to rely on. The problem is to uphold its promises, because they are having a lot of trouble with that.

Phoebe Smith Yeah, though i suppose a f-35 could still use superior avionics to shrink enemy numbers and have enough mobility to overwhelm the rest but usually it would be the work of f-22s or f-15s.

Tech, probably. And more radar range can be really scary when combined with stealth. Forget dogfights though, there are cheaper and better options for that (gripen ng, f-15, as examples).
