I think what Toyota is trying to say is that the sheer amount of lithium and rare materials required to make batteries for EVs in the numbers we want is simply unsustainable regardless of infrastructure. We will need something else to power cars. For the time being, hybrids are the best thing, we can use small batteries for urban commute and combustion engines for road travels and range extension. At that point all we need is a convenient recharging method at our garages. A potential candidate to power the future is hydrogen, despite being an mediocre fuel source at best, it can be produced cleanly. Hydrogen combustion engines aren't great due to nox emissions but fuel cells only produce water.

It is in the interest of Ukraine. They have the advantage now and chances are russians are coming back for it later. Not that I support any escalations, Ukraine is finally pushing back now. US interference would be just dumb... yet it almost seems like some people in power really want that.

If you want to save the planet there are these vehicles called PEVs that cost a fraction of a Tesla so you can significantly reduce your carbon footprint (and save a lot of money with fuel) without the need to get rid of your car, if anyone is interested.

Look, Biden may not be clever but electric tanks, if possible, aren't nearly as stupid as they sound. Imagine replacing 50 fuel tank trucks with a single, relatively portable, nuclear reactor. And chances are electric tanks will become viable in the near future due to niobium batteries, since thermal management is vastly improved compared to what we currently have on the market.

I don’t see it as ridiculous, electric motors are virtually silent, work best under load and at low rpm, are very low maintenance, produce a lower infrared signature and can produce their own "fuel" in place. Ideally from small nuclear reators at the base. It’s not like batteries will do much to weigh down a 60 ton tank. Not saying that it will be easy, just that it is worth considering. The biggest problem I see is that those batteries are a safety hazard, however there are ways to improve that aspect hitting the market soon. Plus those batteries could also power a ETC cannon, giving you higher muzzle velocities and consistency with every shot. To be frank, even a hybrid tank would be quite useful with current technology.
