  1. hraughr if i remember correctly, Mao’s novel economic policy (Great Leap Forward) killed by itself 45million in the 5 years it was enforced, roughly 9% of China’s population at the time. Political repression(Cultural Revolution) in the subsequent decades killed another 30 million. This estimate may be on the higher end but it’s probably the most accurate statistics we have so far (based on Frank Dikötter’s work)
