I can only think of zones of variable pressure created by ressonance reaching the critical point when the droplet leave the water tentacle. The low pressure zones would become vapor and explode the entire droplet. The surface tension would keep the mist encased until the pressure inside build up and it colapses inside, setting a chain reaction in other low pressure zones. Why it make no sound its perhaps because water would turn into vapor simultaneously or its just so fast thats in a frequency we cant hear it.
