  1. the level of insanity of the far right is spooky. This can be partially traced back to the republican southern strategy but more of it comes from Clinton's election in '92 after 12 years of rightwingers thinking Republicans=Americans. Rush Limbaugh and other conservative pundits came out of the woodwork to feed on their confusion and anger which turned the dislike of democrats/liberals into a visceral hatred which does not allow for compromise.
