The system has figured out that leftists more so than rightwingers are a threat to the system because they attack the profit-generating organizations from defense contractors to oil pipeline builders to exploiters of workers in and outside of the country, etc... Rightwingers are fine so long as they get to keep their guns and you throw a few Bible verses at them but lefties needed to be divided and unfocused hence the bullshit controversies and fearmongering. Look at the Obama presidency. The rightwing did more to enable his administration in pursuing neo-con polices without much liberal protest. How? Because many liberals were distracted by bullshit rightwing outrage and conspiracy theories from birth certificates to secret islamic identity to how he salutes soldiers with a latte in his hand. All of that was distraction and to get liberals to stand behind Obama against the onslaught of rightwing lunacy while ignoring the continual wars in the Middle East. I think the same thing is shaping up with Hillary. If elected, she will face so much Republican opposition and the media is ready to report on that rather than her inevitable expanding of military operations in Syria, Yemen, Iran, and wherever else. We'll have pundits fiercely debating her involvement in Bill Clinton's affairs and there'll be shouts of misogyny from the 3rd wave feminists as the MRAs will be screaming misandry back at them. The more conspiratorial minded will be screaming election fraud. There'll be so many non-issue issues streaming about in the press and on social media which will cause most to overlook how many times our Saudi Arabian allies bomb hospitals and Israeli settlers seize more Palestinian land while US drones mistake weddings and funerals for terrorist gatherings. That stuff will be page 3 news compared to the front page news of the latest Republican outrage and subsequent Democrat response to that outrage over what dress Hillary will have worn at whatever function. This nonsense will keep liberals distracted as they scramble to defend Hillary from rightwing attack after rightwing attack much like they did with Obama. And those few brave progressives who have the nerve to criticize Hillary on her policies will be lumped in the same category as the crazy hate-filled rightwingers and their criticism will dismissed out of hand.
