Comments by "Ronin Dave" (@RoninDave) on "Where Are The Black People In Shogun!? Is This a Woke Article?" video.
@texasfuneral4787 it's because you have people seriously saying black people were there first. There's youtube videos on it and most of it is from Americans.

@RaccooniusIII but Blackthorne/William Adams arrived with the first Dutch to reach Japan and only a handful were alive. If any had been black it would have been noticed.

@texasfuneral4787 🤔 You've lost your mind, sir

@texasfuneral4787 no they weren't

@jeffwells641 problem is William Adams/Blackthorn was with the first Dutch to reach Japan and there were only a dozen survivors on his ship so there would not have been any black africans brought by the Dutch until later in 1609. Yasuke was so rare he caused quite a stir.

@alias-wave absolute nonsense. Ainu are descendants of Jomon and Northen Siberians. But yes they have nothing to do with Black Africans.

that was later in the Edo Period

@MichaelPrefontaine-p9i as you say it was case by case as there was no central authority at that time. The Jesuits had more freedom of movement depending on the local lords while sailors had little interest in venturing inland. But the whole point with that clickbait article is that there would be nearly no black people or very many Europeans anywhere unless attached to missionaries.

@MichaelPrefontaine-p9i quite a number of slaves were Japanese and Korean which overlooked.

@Blakobness it's a fringe group of Afrocentrism most of it from the US. These theories were proposed decades ago and fell rightly into obscurity until the age of clickbait.

The whole Sakanoue thing is an embarrassing bit of literalism. Some foreigner said to be samurai they need to have a bit of black blood - black was taken as literal. However, literalism aside, no such quote exists in Japanese. The Ainu are descendants of Jomon and Northeast Siberian. People who cite out of Africa as proof everyone was black don't understand the gulf of time that separates the leaving of Africa and the populating of the Japanese isles which was tens of thousands of years.

@alias-wave anything written about the Ainu. Their genetics show 49% descent from Jomon

@putinscat1208 wasn't responding to you

@alias-wave it's immaterial. the ainu didn't just spring into existence. Fun fact Sakanoue no Tamuromaro went to Tohoku to squash Emishi rebellions who were also descendants of Jomon.
