The irony is in their attempt to make this all powerful female warrior Mary Sue was that Galadriel was OP to begin with in all of Tolkien's variations. She was the most fair, the most wise, and most powerful of the elves still in Middle Earth. ROP took this top tier character and reduced her to a mouth-breathing brute. Tolkien's Galadriel had grace and poise while ROP's version was a blundering spoiled brat with all the charm of a rabid weasel.

@be1mont_lotr I've read the books. You are babbling nonsense to defend a show that doesn't resemble Tolkien in the slightest. Never did Galadriel express revenge over her brother's death. In all versions, she ducks out of the Wars of Beleriand after the First Kinslaying.

normally I think Japanese police detainment is archaic but this is a guy who deserves to be held as long as they can

ROP Galadriel is completely lacking in wisdom which was a fundamental trait of her character in Tolkien's works.

@Marko-wi1lb I think it was their own failed fantasy series they decided to shoehorn into Tolkien knowing they could make money that way

I was surprised how far this guy went in such a short amount of time. Even after being called out by strangers, Japanese, foreigners, the police, and the freaking yakuza this guy just wouldn't quit. I was surprised to see a recent video where he held up a train for a bit by standing in the doorway. That alone should got him detained. Even Logan Paul was not hated as much as this guy probably because he did his stupid prank crap and left the country quickly not hanging around like a bad smell.

I was shocked (but not surprised) to see a video where he delayed a train for a bit by standing in the doorway. What an a-hole holding up a train full of people for some live stream attention.

@simonschneider5913 it's the 3 years of lockdown. Even foreign residents are now annoyed with the tourists we barely noticed before. Logan Paul was bad but he was in and out quick before Covid. Johnny Somali though has become emblematic of the sudden over-tourism epidemic that has hit Japan this year. And recently there was some Ozzie jackass who deliberately went on a women's only carriage while live-streaming claiming to be a woman inspector. Live streaming was issue before covid but it was more of an mild annoyance but this year those two cases in particular really rankled Japan and made national news.

@simonschneider5913 oh, yeah definitely. For me I came to Japan barely knowing anything including anime. Japan wasn't a mecca for me and I had been to quite a few countries before. I came to learn more about Japan - the history and culture (especially festivals) while here and grew to love the place. I learned more about the real Japan and that's when I noticed how off a lot of western perceptions were when it came to Japan especially the self-assessed experts who watched tons of anime. In my experience the ones who come here with anime stars in their eyes saying they will live here forever are usually gone in 1 to 3 years because Japan didn't live up their expectations also because they knew nothing about actual Japanese culture and history. They could speak far better Japanese than I but no one wanted to talk with them because a lot of Japanese just don't watch anime and they treat Ghibli as a different thing altogether.

No need to chew the fat with pro-overweight folks as they won't be around for too long to continue weighing in on the issue.

I thought when the bloggers went after him he would have learn but he didn't. Then the freaking yakuza came after him and I thought he would have learned but he didn't. He even left the country but came back. He literally couldn't stop himself so it's no surprise that he finally got arrested before someone did him in.

exactly. New villains are always welcomed as opposed to some never heard of behind the scene string puller (because they didn't exist until recently) who was behind earlier established lore

I left WOW in BFA when the new zones popped up with all the daily grinds because of authenticator problems so I missed the end of BFA and nearly all of Shadowlands. I only started playing a month ago just blazing thru content and being befuddled by how it connected to BFA. This idea that some unheard of threat was manipulating things in the background for ages is lame. When has a story successfully introduced a relatively new character who was actually the architect of the events from previous stories? I remember they tried to do this crap with James Bond in Spectre where his foster brother turned out to be behind all of Daniel Craig's films. Just dumb there and in WOW.

problem is no one had ever heard of him. Previous threats had a presence in earlier games in the Azeroth's lore: litch king, the burning legion, the old gods, etc...

his videos are going to hang him

Golden Eye - rocket launchers in the temple. All my friends even ones who weren't gamers played the multi-player as it was so much fun

Even fan fiction would be more respectful and follow closer the narrative and characters of the source material. ROP was someone's lackluster fantasy story that they crammed into an existing property which had a well-established fan base in effort to get some attention. It's creative hijacking (without the creativity). This is why everything seems off because they just swapped the names of characters and places of their crappy fantasy world and put Tolkien's names in their place but little was done about the overall depth of Tolkien's works.
