as a finale to the series it sucks but the structure of the show wasn't as depended on an ending like other shows were - LOST, HIMYM, new Battlestar Galactica, and of course Game of Throne. Those shows made the audience think the writers had a well-crafted story prepared for them with all the mysteries and character arcs waiting to be answered at the end only to find out that the writers had little to no idea what they were doing for various reasons.

@sergoldenhandthejust1495 but knowing how it ends there is little point for newcomers to want to start a series that starts of brilliantly and ends so terribly

cinematically it was a great scene but in a series about the consequences of actions it was out of place. This is when the show became a soap opera (really in season 5 with Arya's story) where things are done for surprise reactions more than narrative sense

Saul never pissed me off like Walter did. Although I sympathized with Walt and his plight, he got too greedy and careless. Saul on the other hand is generally a likable character (not dissing on Cranston's incredible performance) with faults. Even in BB, he was more the voice of reason when Walt and Jesse were dealing with their respective issues. After watching BCS, I sympathize more with Saul, Mike, and even Gus because despite their flaws they were more stable than those two. It's like those 2 jackasses threw a major monkey wrench into the lives of better breaking bad folk who had things under control and Gus [spoiler!] getting revenge on the cartel is made even sweeter in BCS only to have Walt screw it up and give a real bastard (Hector) who didn't deserve it a method for revenge.

@Neil Childs With Star Wars even if one doesn't like the Prequels or Sequels there's always the Original Trilogy complete and whole to go back to for rewatching enjoyment or introducing new people to. Problem with GoT is despite excellent earlier seasons those earlier seasons all hinge on the ending because that's what all the plot points and character development is building towards and it's crap. I wouldn't recommend anyone to start watching it for the first time because they'd end up hating me for wasting so much of their time on a series that sputters out.

There are Manic Pixie Dream Girls and Boys but at least they have a personality as opposed to the attractive nigh perfect sought after love interest of the protagonist in other romance movies. The protagonist can be quirky, fraught with flaws, suffering, and/or funny while their love interest is practically devoid of a personality except being very attractive and having their sh*t together unlike the protagonist who has to win them over like a prize

that's the problem with a serialized show - if everything builds to the ending and that ending is utter crap all the good before it doesn't really matter. In contrast take a show like Star Trek Next Generation. Even hardcore fans will admit the first season is the worst and there are numerous bad episodes spread thru out but there are far more self-contained episodes that are really good that can be watched over and over again. The terribleness of the first season and other episodes don't affect the good ones but with GoT all the storylines and character development is building to a climax and they get ruined in the later seasons and completely dumped by the last show. Who wants to rewatch or watch for the first time that kind of trainwreck knowing where it all ends?

With LOST they set up too many mysteries they didn't have answers for and by the end they were just making it up as they went along. The ending was so different from where they began to be almost unrecognizable.

I can understand fan's being upset with Dexter's ending but it's not in the same league as LOST, Battlestar Galactica, and Game of Thrones or even the new Star Wars series. Dexter was a show that really only had several possible endings - death, capture, or escape. Or it could have ended without an ending leaving the audience wondering at his fate in a kind of 70s film-making style. Even with the lumberjack ending have it end with him seeing a news clip about a killer in the area and end with a shot on his face with the question will he return to his old habits lingering. The other shows though promised not only an end from Episode 1 but an answer to all the mysteries they presented from the beginning and along the way. And in both these shows failed spectacularly rendering both rewatching and watching for the 1st time knowing the endings a pointless endeavor.

@Gozeinaxana The Arya in Braavos storyline was so terrible. It ruined the Jaquen who was the coolest character of mystery in the series. It made Arya into this arrogant psychopath with abilities that didn't match the training we saw. And there was the whole teenage drama between her and the Waif to become Teacher's Pet. Then having her stabbed multiple times and dumped into a river where she is able to be nursed back to health in a world where Drogo died from one infected booboo was the icing on the cake of crap.
