Sandy A I think it has more to do with the history of the situation when the parents, grandparents, and/or great-grandparents were pushed off their land living in occupied territory that is constantly encroached upon by settlers and when Israel retaliates to some ineffectual rockets they end up killing thousands. But no they'd all be happy as larks if it weren't for the brainwashing.

  2. Sandy A it is not an age-old conflict. It only goes back a hundred years or less as the conflicts really started after WWI. And it doesn't matter that it wasn't as many Arabs pushed off their land as being claimed now (your argument sounds suspiciously similar to a rather odious denial type). It still happened and that memory is fresh and bitter. Trying to claim it's just brainwashing is to discredit their grievances as is calling them simply "Arabs" in an effort to deprive them of an identity.

  3. rondragon The disingenuousness of rightwing Israelis and their supporters is flabbergasting. They'll say "well, the hamas shot rockets from a school so it's their fault that we had no choice but to completely obliterate those largely ineffectual rockets with our missiles!" Here's an idea - don't blow up the school. The chances of the hamas having much of an armed presence around those rockets is rather small. A well trained strike force could take them out with snipers and assault tactics but they don't want to do that preferring to just blow the rockets up along with anyone else in the area.

  4. +Magellan the regressive thing is just people like Harris and Rubin being as bad as they say Aslan is in his criticism of them while Harris fanboys have run the term into the ground calling people regressive anytime you don't scream Islam is evil every time ISIS commits an act of terror. I find their behavior often very much in line with the rightwing intolerance.

  6. +kurd55 both Harris and Aslan want attention because it increases their book sales and speaker fees. They probably often get together for drinks and laugh about their fans as they cash their checks into their Swiss bank accounts.
