exactly. What some people don't understand is that trump supporters didn't become supporters because of Trump's own ideas. They became supporters because he said what they wanted to hear without filters. He can only deviate so far from this and like a good con man he knows not to push his luck. In a 2nd Term Trump Presidency, it'd still be Fauci whom Trumpsters hated before the vaccine and other prominent liberals calling for vaccines which would cause the inevitable tribalistic backlash

@captain_context9991 Trump is Trump because he tells his supporters what they want to hear that's why they became his supporters in the first place not because of anything original he had to say. Them booing him for saying take the vaccine is proof of that.

A cult leader can only cult so far but if he strays too far from the core belief system his followers will supplant him with another leader who believes more strongly in the cause. Anti-vax along with anti-immigration, anti-BLM, anti-left, anti-abortion, anti-etc... didn't begin with Trump. They were mad at masks and Fauci before the vaccine was a thing.

You have to factor in rightwing tribalism and kneejerk reaction to anything liberal coupled with Trump's conning behavior and the need to be in the spotlight. If he couldn't get his name plastered all over the vaccine as his idea, he'd likely would have been lukewarm to it then because liberals would be touting the vaccine because of the science behind it it would cause many rightwingers to naturally be against it. At that point Trump would likely give a "good people on both sides" type speech to keep his base placated telling them if they feel like it, get the vaccine but if not, it's ok which many MAGA folk would interpret as Trump not being for the vaccine. However as it actually stands though, Trump has said to get the vaccine and you still have Trumpsters dead-set against it
