Could be just more of the info wars (not the Alex Jones show) of Russia to sow yet more confusion and paralyze the country. Putin was KGB and he has to realize that the US on all sides of the political spectrum are ready to tear each other apart like a kind of "Monsters on Mainstreet." He didn't have to hack the election (because Hillary sucked) but if he fake leaks that he did he gives one group the ammo they want to attack Trump and the Republicans while they knowing it was fake will be even more determined to destroy the Democrats. This way his hands are clean as Americans rip each other apart.
