  1. How much did the Pope know about Kim Davis or about how convoluted (and insane) American socio-politics is? Even for (sane) Americans it's confusing when you have bigots draping themselves in the mantle of Civil Rights Activists while a man spouting hate speech against refugees from the results of our disastrous Drug War is heading the polls for presidential office. Expecting a foreigner and a busy spiritual leader to understand the nuance and complexities of the issue (ie the insanity and hypocrisy) is expecting a bit much when Americans have a hard time figuring it out.
