The problem is there are a number of problems. 1) You have a party that can gin up their base with fear at the drop of the hat, a base which literally despises liberals to the point they would scupper a lifeboat that would save them just to "get back at the libtards." 2) The GOP blatantly cheats by purging voter rolls, creating problems at Democratic polls creating huge lines, passing laws to limit Democrat voters, gerrymandering and the Democrats do little to stop this except whine. 3) You have too many corporate Democrats running as Republican-lite candidates like Donnelly. 4) Too many liberal-minded people out there who don't like conservative policies are cynically apathetic and won't lift a finger to do anything to help themselves At this point maybe we should just allow ourselves to sink into despotic corporatism and let people die by the millions for lack of healthcare many of whom having voted against their best interests anyway or not voted. Only by letting things get truly terrible might people finally wake up but by that time we'll likely be in a period of massive drought and global famine and it won't matter.
