  34. Time is a tough thing for most people to get their minds around so they easily squish time in some places and ignore it in other places. Ancient Egypt often gets squished by those who barely know it to the point that Cleopatra and Tut were practically dating each other instead of the fact that Cleo is closer to our time than she is the conventional time period of the Great Pyramids' construction. The time between dinosaurs and the rise of hominids (62 million years) often gets ignored as it's not as sexy as dinosaurs or relatable as our early ancestors. Most people think 5000 years ago is so old as to be nigh incomprehensible. Paleontologists will sometimes casually refer to a species' existence being "only" a few million years as though it were unsuccessful while we are barely at 3 million all told and only between 100-300K as modern humans with our present civilization starting only about 6-8,000 years ago, a thin thin sliver in geological time and even in our own timeline as modern humans.
