You may pay "Less Taxes" in America and in return you have access to fewer (or no) safety nets along with a insanely polarized left/right dichotomy, with a huge racial and economic divide with more guns than people, and no universal healthcare. With COVID-19 comes your "one time only" USD$1200 cheque in the USA compared to up to four CD$2000 cheques here in Canada. For the amount I'm taxed, I feel I'm getting a good return on services.

A Living Wage is the hourly rate required for two working parents to meet the basic needs of a family of four. Currently, the minimum wage in BC is $13.85/hour, but the living wage in metro Vancouver is $19.50/hour. ... A Living wage means strong local economies, sustainable cities and healthy communities. Relevant to me as I live in Metro Vancouver.

@mickemike2148 Curious as to how much vacation time per year your allotted in Sweden? How does childcare work? How does Seniors care work? Is the VAT similar to our GST/PST here in Canada. We also don't get charged taxes on restaurant meals. Are there poverty stricken No-Go areas of Sweden with people living in tents and Shanty towns?

You say you're in Calgary, oil Capital of Canada aka Texas North, which would explain why unemployed Albertan oil workers (with fracking expertise) may be moving stateside for oil work. That being said, I've lived and worked at various jobs (interacting with the public) in Metro Vancouver since 1984 and having casually chatted (10 minutes or more) with well over 5,000 different people and have probably had maybe a half dozen wanting to move stateside. In my personal circles I found the reverse, more Americans wanting to move here. Vancouver has its' own share of problems, but milder winters than Calgary is not one of them. My question to you Igor, is what prompted your move to Canada over the USA?

I agree to a point, but it's not nearly as fractured as it is south of the 49th and that was almost exclusively due to the election of POTUS 45. He gave the "deplorables" their legitimacy. He did after-all pronounce his love of the uneducated more than once. I've never kidded myself into thinking we don't have our own problems here in Canada, but we are in definitely better shape than the previous $hitshow making news in 'Murica.
