From my perspective, as a born and raised BC'er it was 1993 when voters in BC voted in a newly branded provincial "Liberal Party of BC", under their new leader and former Vancouver Mayor, Gordon Campbell, consisting mainly of former right-wing Social Credit party member survivors (SoCreds) after their catastrophic corruption implosion which had ruled BC for decades. To combat the "Socialist hoards at the gate", the conservative So-Cred voters of the day held their collective noses as they voted the Gorden Campbell Liberals into power for a total of three terms. Most of the B.C. electorate knows that the B.C. Liberals were never an offshoot of the Federal Liberal Party of Canada, sharing little in common. The current governing minority provincial NDP have been gaining popularity again with their "early -in-the-game" positive COVID-19 response efforts with "flattening the curve" which among other positive initiatives, may get the NDP re-elected in October 2021.
