Though I understand your predicament, you're not looking at the big picture. Those Americans have no healthcare at all. As a fellow Canadian, you are covered for any doctor/hospital visits unlike friends to the south; you just won't get a private room, but you won't go bankrupt either. If you truly wish for Canadian healthcare to include prescription drugs and dental you'd be supporting Jagmeet Singh of the federal NDP as he's been pushing for that for a long time. Remember it was him that got us our CAD$2000 monthly CERB cheques.
