With all due respect, could you please give me some examples or links to support that age old argument. From what I understand Canada is quite self-sufficient and exports far more that we import. Canada has been diversifying it's trade with Asia and Europe as well as Latin America...basically the rest of the world. It might take a while to adjust, but we Canadians are a fairly tough bunch. We'd be okay.
