@saudielbamber4227 That's why I'm not fond of this debate format. In a rapid fire exchange, ideas and concepts don't get fully developed and properly explained. As such impurtinent remarks such as these litter this comments section.
9
Rights exist in reality, not by government grant.
6
Legitimate government exists as a duty to enforce unalienable rights. It's very explicict in the Declaration, 1776.
5
Texas has taken the lead in tort reform, to great benefit.
4
@JadeIsBunny Never told? Sounds like the 1619 project. The undeniable fact is manual labor is so low grade, it's not profitable to pay wages. Industrialization and capital inveestment improved workers pay, by becoming more efficient and productive, as measured by value of output per man hour worked.
4
@hermeskun3274 Your definition is subjective. Unalienable rights is derived from objective truth, especially as enunciated by 18th Century Enlightenment philosophy, e.g., that of John Locke. It identifies natural law and man's essential nature, and a priori logic. Hat tip, Aristotle. Or did you sleep through that class?
4
@hermeskun3274 No, the Declaration of Independence is not theological. The Founders of the day were of the Enlightenment, and were essentially Deists.
4
No global warming in 19 years. The 72 UN climate models have all failed in their predictions. Get a clue. This global warming fraud is getting very old.
3
Social security isn't redistribution. It's paid in proportion to contribution, just like a private retirement fund. The only role for government is to capture those funds as general revenue, whereas private funds are invested in the private sector, with much higher return, and contol of principle.
3
@490o Liberals have no critical thinking ability.
3
@hermeskun3274 That is not correct. Please read the preamble to the Declaration of Independence. The fundamental principle enshrined here is practically verbatim from John Locke's Second Treatise on Government. It seems you are a victim of the Public Fool System. You have my sympathy.
3
@hermeskun3274 The Declaration of Independence is fundamental and a priori. The term "unalienable rights" means exactly that.
3
@hermeskun3274 Why do you persist in your wilful ignorance? Unalienable means what the word can only mean. It's derived by man's fundamental nature, to be free and self governing. I try to be patient, hoping there can be some learning here. You don't make it easy.
3
@hermeskun3274 Is voting an unalienable right?
3
Your perception is faulty.
3
That is a universal statement. Libertarian is simply another word for freedom.
3
@rvc121 Not Sam, just replies in the comments section. Yaron said there are no corporations, meaning that they do exist as de facto legal fictions, but only serve as pass through entities, for taxes, and profits.
3
Libertarianism is really a resurrected 17th Century Enlightenment. The Industrial Revolution brought about Marxism in its many versions. The Information Age ushers in a rebirth of freedom.

mrbadguysan: The revenue surplus is gone. This was actually used to help offset deficit spending, to make the deficit look smaller ('global" budgeting). But now they must eat what they kill. The next milestone is when the current payments collected are insufficient to pay all current benefits. This will have to be addressed by payroll tax increase, benefit cuts, or both. The best time to deal with this was 20 years ago. It can still be done today, with difficulty, but there's no political will. And Medicaid is an even bigger problem. Then there's the public and private sector pension funds that are out of balance, some seriously so. You can minimize this situation if you want to. But then denial isn't just a river in Egypt.
2
mrbadguysan: You asked me a question. I answered it. I'm sorry if the answer I provide undermines your emotionally protected cherished belief system. But maybe it's time to grow out of it.
2
Known as the "Supremacy Clause". It simply refers to the relationship of federal and state law.
2
Only if your purpose is to denegrate something which you are totally ignorant of. That's the liberal way.
2
bisquitinspanky: A record dating back to 1979. It was hotter in the 1930's and 1940's. And yes, even the warmists admit to what they call, the pause. Oh, and those IPCC forecasts are off by as much as two standard deviations.
2
MOME914: Fool, China went from cruel Maoist "Great Leap Forward" and "Cultural Revolution" Marxism, to Deng Xiaoping's economic market oriented pragmatism, causing the greatest uplifting in human material well being in the shortest time in human history. Granted they're beginning to sputter now, after almost 30 years of non stop double digit annual GDP growth. They too must accommodate their policies to the emerging information age economy, and let go of central authority in China.

@MkeKen67 Learn some science.
2
@KiefEriksson As an armchair psychologist, it's clear you need help.
2
@KiefEriksson Let me set you straight. Duels are an immature fantasy. Growing up means conscientiously seeking understanding, knowledge, and truth. I hate to be the critical parent here, but you've got a ways to go. Good luck.
2
Liberalism is unsustainable.
2
@thebrutusmars Only if liberals abuse the term.
2
@kevinborchers3522 Prepare for what? A millimeter per year in natural sea level rise, due to constant erosion?
2
@dildonius If you say so.
2
@dildonius How so?
2
@dildonius Learn some science.
2
Thet Have A Cavetroll: Follow the money.Tens of billions of dollars buys you a lot of "science". No deep dark conspiracy, just bought and paid for junk "science". Your first clue should be 19 years of no global warming, that and all 72 UN computer models predicting significant rise in global temps for this period. Quite simply, global warming has been completely debunked. It only persists in the mind warped faux reality of today's progressives/liberals..
2
They Have A Cavetroll: I've been following the science and the "science" for decades. I know the difference. The glaciers are remnants of the last ice age and have been melting ever since. Polar ice is increasing in the Antarctic, and stable in the Arctic. Sea levels have been rising ever since the end of the last ice age, albeit more slowly recently. And again, using the most accurate data set, from satellites, there is no global warming in 19 years. What's more, now that this recent super El Nino event has ended, expect a prolonged period of global cooling, possibly resulting in another Little Ice Age
2
You can go to climatedepot.com to get your linked stuff debunked. I've got thousands of links I can send you to, but I think Climate Depot will serve you for now.
2
I've tried to impress upon you I've seen all this stuff proffered by the pro CAGW operatives. I thought I also detailed my previous experience getting into the weeds with these hacks. I don't need any more practice. Your time would be better spent investigating the sources I refer you to. This is my sincere recommendation.
2
When there is a private sector, voluntary alternative.
2
@rogerforsythe5310 Quintessential liberal.
2
@Nersule It's the FDA that gives cover to the purveyors of opioids. Strict liability is a powerful enforcement.
2
@psrabe7444 Is this a hypothetical? Free enterprise doesn't need defending. It's actually how the real world works.
2
@psrabe7444 Listen to the vid again. At the start of this Yaron specifically says he's Objectivist. If that also has a libertarian connotation, that's just fine. Objectivism is the philosophy of Reason, and is based on Aristotelian logic. Rand edifies the 18th Century Enlightenment as the rebirth of the reason and logic of Aristotle. The American nation was founded on the principles of the Enlightenment, and whole heartedly annunciated and embraced by it's Founding Fathers. I encourage liberals to be open minded and read Ayn Rand, especially her non fiction. And Yaron puts out regular YT vids on Objectivists topics.
2
@psrabe7444 Like I've said here several times, the debate format, and Yaron himself says this, is not his favorite teaching method. He has been a college professor in economics for years. He is great at lectures. The pugilism of debates is usually a team sport, with each side rooting for their star player. He did this with Sam in hopes something naturally occurring would come out, and at least be thought provoking. I don't like debating either, because I get too aggressive. Yaron tried to stay rational, in a difficult place.
2
You really are confused. Are you a liberal?
2
@Ironcabbit Really? I just asked a simple question. Was that too hard for you?
2
@Ironcabbit You are messed up. Multiple fallacies in one short comment. Take Ye back to school.
2
@reyvn77 I can find any caller to be confused and call himself libertarian. Most liberals are way worse. That's my criticism of Sam. He deliberately misrepresents things Sam wants to denigrate, i.e., "the South", and "libertarian". It's a form of straw man fallacy. It's dishonest. And it proves NOTHING.
2
I put Sam in that class.
2
Desireable drugs are kept off the market.
2
@alexscriabin And how about the rest of the world? Should we deny the industrial revolution, for the better contentment of WOKE fools?
