  2. @lengan75  really? Nah, that's the reality. Every country has its own luck and fate. I think Indonesia doesn't have the intention to trade closer to the US due to its bitter experience with the US since Suharto era. For example, 9% shares of Freeport Indonesia were given to Suharto and 1% shares were to Indonesia government since 1969. This share give away was recorded in Singapore. The US than used this give away to label Suharto as a corruptor. In fact, in the US, there is a law that forbid anyone to bribe or gratify any officer including a president. Furthermore, to maximize its profit, the USD from its sales have been sent directly to the US in the name of direct investment or globalization. This is why when Soros came in 1998, Indonesia had not enough USD to counter Soros. Freeport also poured its toxic waste to the only drinking water source for local Papua that has caused thousands people dead. As consequences, local people distrusted the government. Plus Freeport bribed the whole Indonesia parliament to pass a bill that let it have its mining till you will see a hole in another side of the planet whoever the Indonesia president is. The funny thing was, no NGOs, or politicians complained about this bribery practice and International transparency still gave the US a really good score for corruption. The US also manipulated Indonesia currency to 1 USD = 16,800 Rupiah in 1998 from 1 USD = 7.5 Rupiah in 1969, just to lower all its expenses in Indonesia while it has received all sales in USD.
