As to Taiwan the issue is greater because it involves China's encroachment on international waters and the long ignored building of military in the South China Sea and the fact that they are an authoritarian government with a poor record of upholding international law. One empire dies and another takes its place. Not a fan of the US but up until now they were considered a democracy that adhered to international law.
