@tynao2029 Holyfield was juiced up to the gills against Tyson. Unfair advantage for Mr Evan Fields which is the name he got the peds under.
11
His peak was his fight with Hearns where he put it all together. Sorry I don't mean to sound rude. He even said so himself how he put it all together in that fight with Hearns. Then it was all downhill after that. First he lost his speed against Mugabi then Leonard took advantage of that, or Leonard tried to and lost! (Hagler won imo) Then he retired. Peak, means all coming together at once rather than one thing being better. His peak and peak performance was against Hearns. As was Hearns peak against Hagler. Neither fighter was the same again, it took a lot out of them. I understand you may mean peak as in physicsl prime et cetera 28 or 29 but brains and braun come together to make a PEAK Marvelous Marvin Hagler. 31 can be a perfect time for a lit of middleweights

@user-sz5xs7dm4u Hearns had blistering power,Ali wore u down gradually and outboxed you,Hearns right hand was the defining knockout punch of the 80s,to say he was an arm puncher??
8
True, Hearns' tactics were to try and get Hagler to concentrate on the left hand jab and work from there and Haglers to go to the body and work his way up. But both just threw that out the window and went for it after a few seconds.

@blackjack-ks8zn And Benitez add that to Duran Leonard and also Cuevas also the first man to beat long standing light heavyweight champion Virgil Hill. His war with Hagler, awesome, wouldnt see that kind of fighting today. Just agreeing with you and adding bouts you know about.
6
@douglaswalters2670 Yeah Whyte has lost his punch resistance Esspecially to uppercuts. AJ started it then Povetkin and Fury knew it. Knocked out with one punch off fury imagine if wilder hit him or Zhang
5
He fought Larry Holmes and struggled against a 52 year old holmes
5
@neegachu9074 Just casuals that don't understand boxing and looked at Butterbean throwing punches inside. Not knowing it requires good footwork giving angles and moving your head correctly. All those things BB didn't know..
4
@mrmagoo491 Seems to be a thing, when you say Mugabi wasn't the same,Hearns was like that,he wasn't quite the same after fighting Hagler.
4
@deezapenutz To have Hagler Hearns and Leonard all competing in the same era was great, all great fighters,Duran too,but obviously he was smaller, still have Hagler hell though and only lost by one round,I believe Duran would have beat Hagler if he was a bigger fighter.
4
Price retired ages ago
4
@gjfjdjd Nahh Julian Jackson hit harder, even carried the punch up to middle from junior middle, also McClellan,Nigel Benn and Thomas Hearns would debate that
4
@kek283 Anderson is another one who will get exposed if he has the balls to fight Kabayel but he won't Kabayel would hammer him. Anderson telegraphs his punches he's stiff and one dimensional . Kabayel would destroy him. Kabayel has wins like chisora who always gives anyone a good fight and makhmudov who was untested and not that good but still had a decent win against Takam, and Kabayel went through him. Now this win against Sanchez. Ok he had a stiff knee but he still looked good against him. 3 years ago Kabayel was seen as a fancy Dan but now the guys turning em over. I'm impressed with him. Let see how he goes on with a rangy boxer from the top tier.

He doesn't try you throw it loose

@DWilliam1 I agree Hearns was still great after the Hagler fight but he'd still lost that incredible handspeed (His speed was still there but not that blistering speed we saw against Duran and Hagler) and his punch resistance was gradually diminishing. Turned back the clock against an unbeaten and well respected Virgil Hill, Tommy out boxed and out foxed him. Don't get me wrong Hearns was my fav boxer back then I idolised Tommy. I think or should I sag I know he beat Leonard in their second fight. I've never met anyone who thinks Ray won. And imo Hearns in his super welter and middleweight years between 82 and 86 was too much for Ray at tgat time, Ray thought he'd caught Tommy on the slide and would beat him but Tommy was well up for that fight in every department. I have the biography on Hearns career called "Hitman" it's a cracking read and explains how manny got Hearns right up for the Leonard fight. How Tommys jaw had come out slightly on one side at the back and how they designed a new mouth piece to equalised the shape of his jaw and how they had worked on his legs to strengthen them. I'd really recommend reading it the author is a guy called Brian Hughes. My dear long lost pops bought it for me as he knew how much I liked Tommy.
3
Thankyou friend peace be upon you and yours.
3
He was my fav of the 4 only thing I wish he did better was his defence, something Manny improved on later on with his KRONK fighters..
3
@arielalbeltocollado6411 If he had a broken knee he wouldn't have been allowed to fight off the commission. It was a strain not a break he had a stiff knee that's all.
3
@benjaminrichardson4094 One judge gave it to Hearns the other two Hagler, but in all honesty it's the most even brutal first round in boxing history,at least what I've seen anyway.
3
@redbulltapia7999 8 and 5 makes 13 dummy and that's not how you score fights it's done on a ten point must system and you get 10:8 for a knockdown, you salty clown he lost get over it.
3
@wankasaurusrex7621 Your a black Englishman who's bitter because your brethren lost, take the chip off your shoulder and rise above racism it's not worth it pal, just rise above it
2
@tarzan4771 Aye Sean just to say there is a north south devide in England and us in the north feel it off those posh woolly backs too from down south, all the best to you pal.
2
He also said "No love" And that statement since from his team to try and save face is garbage,it means nothing,he's a sore sore loser, excuse maker. To think I used to like him, what a clown!
2
@cadeeshak Have you not followed the fury wilder story how can you say that crap, its common sense wilder is a bitter excuse making fool and a big baby. For you to say it's after the fight heat et cetera is just crap, his team also wrote that other stuff to try and save face and it seems to have worked with casuals like you and if you aren't a casual then you are either a mug or too Mr nice,so which are you because I'm 100% certain you are wrong in what you think you know
2
@swansmeister Bullshit
2
Yeah
2
Dosser. A Dosser is a bum.
2
@andydnyc That's cool dude sometimes there can be a bit of truth on both sides depending how you look at things and reasoning et cetera. But you're entitled to your opinion take care bruv 👌👍
2
If I was to say anything negative about Donald it would that he holds his head too high up.
2
@NemeanLion- There you go then that proves it even more.
2
@NemeanLion- Corrected it 👍
2
@l00d3r Agree, very close fight and I thought Hagler won all the middle rounds I thought Hagler did enough to defend his title.
2
@kiboma4209 Slow? You think.
2
I don't think he was an underdog Kabayel beat Chisora convincingly beat makhmudov easily. Sanchez only has one decent win against Ajagba. So this bout was a 50/50
2
Exactly, also with Hearns his hand speed, made it much harder to get past that reach,Leonard who also had incredible handspeed was shorter,in reach, so Duran could negate that, once Hearns jab set the other punches up there was only going to be one winner.
2
He sings good too, every now and then he steps in with "DON'T PUSH" or "NO HOLDING,NO HOLDING STEP BACK"
2
@johnrodriguez9839 12 rounder this one John but you're right there,Hagler like a steam roller 🙂.
2
@NIROSAN19 Lose, dummy!
1
@igotanimac1 I know right, what's he going on about
1
@kickerse13 Yeah not using the jab to set up other shots and it also keeps you off balance.
1
@chincheck739 Also improves performance look at Lance Armstrong for example in the Tour De France. Holyfield might have beat him anyway, he had a good chance which makes it even sadder that he did what he did. How pumped up he looked against Tyson was ridiculous!
1
Well written but I wouldn't say Hagler was an unknown quantity when he went in to the fight with Minter,he already had a disputed draw with Vito antuafirmo at a crack at his world Title.
1
@WZ912 I think Leonard was the best all rounder of the 5 and even had great survival instincts, knowing how to cover up well et cetera, very clever bloke, although I thought Hagler beat him and Hearns best him in their rematch, but Leonard was a great fighter.
1
Jamel sounds like the kind of guy you could chat with for hours, likeable guy. Looks old though, how old is he?
