@LucasFernandez-fk8se They chirp from the built in alarm speaker, to warn you the battery is about to run out. Of course if the battery goes totally flat, they got no power to sound the alarm with. They can do this chirp for a long time before it does eventually run out.

Yeah I cringed a bit when I heard that, it was immediately obvious it was a miscommunication. Carl is just being a bit sloppy with his language, as most people often are. Its pretty ironic that he even acknowledges the term "ufo" being another such instance where the people in general assumes it means "alien craft" when its by definition anything but, just like the term "aliens".

You are right but the men in those relationships got something in common, and its not being stoic and in total control of their emotions to say the least. In short, their brain functions like the negative stereotype of a womans. Pretty ironic.

These arent "pranks".. which should be obvious. What is perhaps not so obvious to a lot of people is what they truly are: Sort of a second-hand "power fantasy", i.e the ones who watches and likes these videos are mentally putting themselves in his shoes and wish it was them that could scare people, in order to feel powerful. As far as I know, its a psychological mechanism to cope with low self esteem and lots of other mental issues. Where I am at, its not uncommon for people to get robbed, beaten and humiliated and sometimes the "robbers" dont even take the cash. Its all just a power rush. The fact stuff like this is so common and a lot of people watch it with glee, shows a deeper rooted resentment and is very concerning for society at large, I would say.

Yeah, but why would you when a single one of the above arguments are more persuasive, never mind how powerful all of them stacked together is to the right crowd. You got to know your audience. Less effort for a likely better reward, this.

Your "This world we are living in now" implies something has changed. It hasnt. It has always been like this. You only get to know about it more, courtesy of the communications technology existing. Edit: I will add that you would do best to be aware of this, and try to not take be too affected. Its harsh, but similar sort of cruelty has happened literally millions of times since before humans climbed down from the trees. Dont be paranoid, depending on where you are, its quite unlikely to affect you. You, as everyone else, just have to accept this is what humans are and have always been and learn to live with it. Its a risk, just as there is a risk getting hit by lightning. Its unlikely and the chances can be made even less by acting accordingly. Cheer up. Cheers.

Well done. Your ex friend is a lost cause though, no use trying to convince them. One of those people who agree with literally everything the "powers that be" tell them to. Its quite literally in their genetics. What is sad, is that it encompasses the majority of humanity. It is what it is. But as I told you another time, unless you live in a very bad area, the risk of anything really bad happening to your family is extremly small, a small solace perhaps.

Well, yes it always was that way. Its even baked into the genes to be a simp for authority amongst most people, whatever said authority may say or do. And with good reason; if the rulers of the tribe didnt like the cut of your jib, that meant as good as certain death for as long as humans have existed or longer. So thats not going to change anytime soon. Just one of those things.

You dont get it: Most women (and a good chunk of men) innately dont think they have any broader agency. They cant understand the concept itself. And I cant agree with their logic: If you are unable to fathom agency, you also cant have any responsibility.

@Mira6Rus I got a question: Do you like putting on that facade professionally or would you rather be in another business and be yourself? Personally, I cant stand being fake/faking something for a single second, but I am admittedly an outlier among people in that regard. Just not in my nature. So its hard to imagine doing it for a relatively menial job, if you excuse my frankness.

@GeekyC Heres what I do; I dont follow social media much and certainly not the main stream media. I know whats going on that relevant is to me just fine anyway. You watching this video by lotus eaters means you are already more clued in about some/most bigger issues than almost everyone in the general public, you could leave it at that... Sidenote regarding gruesome footage and images: As a kid, I grew up on the "unregulated" internet that existed back then. It was "cool" to watch the most horrific videos that could be found, some sites collected them Perhaps they still do, I dont know, I only knew about them back them from how my friends talked about them. But I never watched a single one of those videos. Why should I? Didnt interest me. The psychology is a bit interesting, I can only assume my friends saw it as some kind of "manliness ritual" of being a rebel similar to mouthing off to the teacher, etc. Since I grew up in quite different and a bit harsher circumstances than those kids, I had no need to prove anything to anyone.... Anyway, my point is: If it affects you negatively, try to avoid it best you can. unfollow or block some content some contacts posts for a time if you absolutely have to keep using social media a lot.

You must be very young, or forgetful. Swedish instutions and society were all but taken over with this ideology since the early 1970s. Only cultural momentum from previous eras and a then lack of cheap ways to get there from other countries regulated the amount of people going there since then...

@JG-vh6oy So have I. I later taught it as well. This segment didnt bother me at all, no its just Callum being Callum (having quite low tolerance and interest outside "his" subjects). He is, and always was a sourpuss little boy, but thats what we like about him.

I read an old book probably from the 70s-early 80s when I was a kid about exactly that concept. Dont remember its name though. The protagonist was one of the aliens, and it takes place a few years after they arrived and promptly got defeated because they were so dumb in comparison to humans. Pretty original concept, I would think.

@onionfarmer3044 Yes, I absolutely understand it, I am pretty familiar with evolutionary psychology and know that its even ingrained in our genes. You needed a strong tribe were everyone pulls the same way to face threats, be it by nature itself or other humans. So you are indeed correct. It still doesnt make me a big fan of the phenomena though, when it manifests itself like the OP above.

Effectively no one, as a percantage of the total. Yes, gas usage is the majority in lots of european countries. But you forget sweden got it even worse, since its relying heavily on electricity for heating among other thing, the price of which has gone up about 10 times in the last year.

Sorry to say but the story about Callums mom the way he tells it really does make it seem like shes the stereotypical airheaded woman. The one who should never have any influence on what goes on in the family because of giving no thought to what mindlessly following trends might lead to in the end, just because of gaining a few social standing points. @astrovarius543 Mandatory to pay the licence is obviously not a joke, or if it is, its a bad one. Several countries have it. But I am pretty darn certain UK would go the same way if enough people cancelled their licence. Easy enough for the powers that be to make it 100% taxpayer funded.

I feel pretty darn confident it would just get 100% taxpayer funding, in which case their budget would be the same, or higher, and you would still pay for it. Several countries have gone this way, I see no reason UK would be different.

Maybe "we" dont know war and what it takes, but I certainly do. Anyone who has studied human nature without bias do, even europeans. Of course, you certainly got a point in that there are very few of us in northern europe, as a percentage. Or is that really the case...? Maybe it isnt, and the ones in charge just conveniently forget, because it suits their agenda to do so... When it comes to the average person, I would wager that this seeming lack of knowledge is only less than skin deep, and the beast within could potentially easily be brought out in a dire situation.

@UserBeenBanned Its almost impossible to quantify what "taking advantage" means. Depending in what area and who you ask, you will get almost as many answers. A lot of people would like others to be "put down" for uttering the wrong words. As of now, there are only the democratically agreed upon laws. It seems like they are follwing said laws just fine? Almost certainly there is, though the "stronghold" of the sub-culture seem to be rural Sweden, it is seemingly still very popular in most of the rural regions of the Nordic countries.

Having any potentially dangerous animal (potentially as in capable of doing severe physical harm) in a enviroment with other people seems like a mistake to me. Difference to knives, cars and guns that can do even greater harm is there is only one person 100% responsible. No one can guarantee perfect control in all situations of a third party, animal or human.

@KyriosHeptagrammaton Yep, exactly. None of them should be kept in anything resembling an urban area. Countryside with farms only. And that mostly seem to be the case, I have rarely seen people with Elks on a leash in my local park? Dogs seem to be the most common exception, for some reason?

I dont have anything against dogs at all, but I stand firm in my belief the city is rarely a place where they can thrive as they should. Whatever one thinks of cities, especially big ones, in all reasonable practice they are exclusively meant and constructed for humans and human needs after all (though it could be argued they are not good places for humans as well). Keeping animals cooped up and forced to interact on outside walks with stuff/people they dont like or cant understand isnt beneficial to anybody. Just stressful for them. Cheers mate.

Its a PR move giving it a "name" to make it more "personal". In sweden, there isnt anyone with influence questioning socialised healthcare, hence no need to market it. Most swedes cant begin to imagine anything else. For Swedish parallells, look at Systembolaget or SVT and their tax funded ads to justify their own existence.

@Born_Stellar Nothing against you, but would really like to hear the reasoning of the OP on the questions I asked. In any case, you are correct, but solution is a pipe dream. The character O'Brien from Orwells "1984" is correct, the ordinary people will never rise up in meaningful numbers/hold their leaders accountable. Just not in their nature. So a better/more realistic solution is needed or another form or rule entirely.

Well the cause is obvious to most people if they can think freely. The remedy is equally as obvious. These are modern problems, so it stands to reason that looking back may hold the answer.

Quite right, in the somewhat modern age, movie stars, singers and sports stars have taken over. More recently, "reality" tv personalities has an iron grip on a large part of the populations adoration, for example Kardashians etc. The percentage of the population looking up to and being aware of any inventors / industry men or similar is very small. I guess Elon Musk would be an exception, until his media fall from grace, courtesy of him questioning some things...

@chris-p6k Its pretty easily explained actually. This sort of stuff comes as a package deal with modern leftism, which is collectivist by its nature (socialism etc). The colder the climate the more collectivist people are likely to be. Its a persuasive ideology for collectively minded people, as historic voting pattern shows.

@UserBeenBanned Seems you answered your own question. That is good, and I mostly agree. However, if people cant even take such an easy action as voting for someone that can represent their own interest, what can they be trusted to do? Not much, I would say, History would seem to agree, which is why we are in this situation to begin with. If you ask me, the "every citizen" democracy will go down in history as just as ludicrous utopian idea as many others, a fanciful dream born out of misinformed ideas of human nature that can only exist when society has relative abundance of resources. The fligthless bird of governance; it can only survive with no predators. Its a self regulating/balancing system, a cycle. Dictatorship and similar ways of governance is the only thing the average human is mentally equipped to handle/understand on a fundamental level, whereupon society always returns to it, sooner or later. Enjoy the air of freedom above the surface while it lasts and we are dragged down again, statistically chances are we wont get another breath for hundreds/thousands of years.

@TheRealXartaX Cant say much except we are looking at it at different points of the curve, which leads to different answers. It all depends on how far back one wants to trace it... Some say the first fish crawling out of the primordial sea up to land was a mistake... I chose to look at the curve where I think a realistic change can have the most effect. All those hardships were never experienced by those currently in power. Insulting historic struggles of the people and ideology and is no match for the glitz and glamour afforded by american inspired social media virtue signaling. @ronniemaclaine5234 It should, but its a very small minority that cares about the consitution and it effectively isnt much practical use these days. And hasnt been for hundreds of years. Tons of laws are unconsitutional since many, many decades with little attention given. Realistically, you might as well not have a constitution, it makes very little difference in practice as can be seen.

Direct the ire towards the things that prevents it from working as it should, that seems more productive. Women did just fine earlier in history and still do in other societies.... Its the outside factors bringing out their not very pleasant sides.

@thebatman4279 I hadnt kept up with that. If true, then good riddance. I am sick and tired of the rights "polite and reasonable" aristocratic so called intellectuals. They may not be the people "driving the speed limit" towards authoritarianism, but they are the ones allowing it to happen rather than being viewed as "vulgar". Seems to be very common amongst the brit upper class. Weak, weak, weak.

Thing is, they dont need convincing. Almost every person espousing those views are either opportunists or simple authority followers, just about no one really cares. Both those categories will change their tune at the drop of a hat when its beneficial for them to do so. The challenge is, and has always been to capture that institutional power that indirectly give them their marching orders.

Mao wasnt right about much, but he wasnt wrong about where political power ultimately comes from. In the end, it most likely is going to be the same as always/with every emprire: it will collapse under its own incomptence and corruption, whereupon other forces take over. If history has shown us anything, its that we would be very lucky if they were as benevolent as what this indigenous "grassrots alternative" would be... Just the way of the world.

@RuneRelic If you know enough to watch these videos, I dont think knowing or learning about the word "extrapolation" is beyond you. Thats what I used. But even without previous data, of which there is plenty, you dont need to survey all people to get a result that is extremely close to reality. You can survey a few thousand random individuals and get results with a very high degree of accuracy even for 66 million people. Thats basic statistics. Anyway, as I said to the other guy, I am not your enemy, I am the drill sergeant waking you up to reality so we can all direct our energy towards that which truly make a difference. Dreaming of "silent majority/normie waking up when the right alternative comes along" isnt one of them, sadly, even though I also would wish that was possible. At least not for the forseeable future. Not necessarily actually. Doing enough stuff to get gains like that, especially if you cant afford the 15k a month "good stuff" , have to get some crap off the street and dont have constant doctor supervision, is often very lethal.

To be fair, as a concept it was always alien to most people in all times, and probably a bit above 90% as well. Just one of those things that are innately counter-intuitive to most humans.

Its pretty easy really. Two words: Cultural difference. A veeeeery old one, that maybe lives on even now? I dont know, I am not a kid. Long story short; Its not inhospitable because there is no malice behind it. Asking for something or expecting something is traditionally seen as a grave sin, because it might embarrass your host if they dont got it. In the old days long gone, there really were a lot of people that could not reasonably afford to feed others, even just a small bit. Lasting at least just prior to the second world war. This way, its equal for all, rich and poor. The poor didnt have to feel embarassed for not having anything to offer. I guess that tradition lived on, even after more people could afford to do so.

You are free to exclude yourself from that group if you so wish. No problem from my perspective. Neither am saying this is everyone elses but my fault. Its not. Not sure were you got that from. What you specifically do when you vote, and if it makes a difference or not isnt very interesting in the grand scheme of things. What a lot of people do, is. I merely adressed the "but there has never been an option for the public to vote against it." <- There has, in as much as is standard practice for representative democracy. Accepting the validity of that governmental system means accepting you will possibly never get to vote on a single issue, ever. And even if you do, the government are most often well wihin their legal rights to ignore that vote. Representative democracy means you get to chose your leaders, and thats it. It is therefore wise to chose the ones who align with your own values. It seems like the British public didnt, even if the perhaps they thought they did. So the OP was correct. They did get what the wanted. Since the general public did vote for parties that had those values. All this was very forseeable. The only other possiblity is that the public was too disinterested to realise or care about what they vote for, which is perhaps an even worse condemnation of them.
