@ThyCorylus I believe you as well, along with those that liked your post, should be honored. After all, you surely just set a record for missing the point of a post, and by a lot... Notice anything special with those names you mentioned? Perhaps the time they were active? Somewhat courtesy of that, what once was household names, are now mostly unknown by a very large part of the UK populace. No new ones in the same fields have taken their place, which seems relevant. This surely was the point of the post. The lazy stock unpleasantry added at the end is just the cherry on the top, and should absolutely cement the arrival of your coming accolade. Well done, I couldnt do such a post if I tried.

Quite right, in the somewhat modern age, movie stars, singers and sports stars have taken over. More recently, "reality" tv personalities has an iron grip on a large part of the populations adoration, for example Kardashians etc. The percentage of the population looking up to and being aware of any inventors / industry men or similar is very small. I guess Elon Musk would be an exception, until his media fall from grace, courtesy of him questioning some things...
