Having any potentially dangerous animal (potentially as in capable of doing severe physical harm) in a enviroment with other people seems like a mistake to me. Difference to knives, cars and guns that can do even greater harm is there is only one person 100% responsible. No one can guarantee perfect control in all situations of a third party, animal or human.

@KyriosHeptagrammaton Yep, exactly. None of them should be kept in anything resembling an urban area. Countryside with farms only. And that mostly seem to be the case, I have rarely seen people with Elks on a leash in my local park? Dogs seem to be the most common exception, for some reason?

@KyriosHeptagrammaton Thats just fine by me, have whatever animal you like on a fenced/closed off farm. Your property. I dont have anything against dogs at all, but I stand firm in my belief the city is rarely a place where they can thrive as they should. Whatever one thinks of cities, especially big ones, in all reasonable practice they are exclusively meant and constructed for humans and human needs after all (though it could be argued they are not good places for humans as well). Keeping animals cooped up and forced to interact on outside walks with stuff/people they dont like or cant understand isnt beneficial to anybody. Just stressful for them. Cheers mate.
