@backwoodstherapy Thats because they arent really "car guys", just pretending to be. They are team fans, of the team/car brand they happen to own or wish to.

@backwoodstherapy Most people into any mainstream hobby or interest are just posers who do it not because they are interested in the thing itself, but rather to find a group to "fit in with". In effect., its a substitute for religious gatherings / tribal meetings etc of olden times. Berating "the other team" is an intrinsic part of that. The most egregious and highest percentage of posers to true enthusiasts I can think of off hand might be aforementioned sports fans and music group fans for example. Anyway, thats just humans for you and there isnt anything to do about it except to ignore it and chuckle a bit about their simple-mindedness and insecurity. Its unlikely to change anytime soon, at least until a time when cars in general might become so seriously uncool (like stamp collectiing or whatever) that only the true "nerds" will do it anymore. Then it will get a bit better, but even stamp collecting nerds sometimes get into fight over which stamps are the best.... 😁

Well what you call "auto enthusiast community" is really anything but. Most of them are team fans, just like you would be of a sports team. Thats what I put quote marks around it. Also using the term "community" is dubious at best, that word is generally strectched to the extreme and beyond these days, to where its not applicable anymore. Like in this case. Dont give them credit for being "auto enthusiasts", nor a "community" they dont deserve.
