They are not "bad guys" really, they are just out of the loop, like most people are. As you said its not hard to be stuck in the 1980s mentally when you are in the middle of nowhere or got a default leftist slant on top of that with corresponding media/social media/acquaintance driven echo chambers. It was always going to be the case. Cant hold it against them really, people are just people in the end and almost everyone just goes along with what they are told, for the reasons outlined above.

@GeoffBuysCars Yeah you kind of did, really. Just wanted to add some reasons, though you also stated most of them already. So a bit redundant post by me, but I just wanted to add my 2 cents for others that might read... I am a very calm and collected guy myself, that dont wear my heart on the sleeve, partially because I lived with emotional people most of my life and know how they work. They are easily taken in by stuff like this, its the same kind of people that would have been heavily religious 100 years ago and so on. The blocking is just their temper getting the best of them, also very common for very emotional people.

@Bruce4lmighty Here is the thing: Most of them, in fact almost everyone of them except the "leaders" that you might have heard of dont think thats what they are doing. Ironically, to them, you are the immoral one. You see the disconnect? Its just a simple difference in worldview, brought on by having vastly different starting outlook and consequently getting fed totally different information.

@Bruce4lmighty You are surely a kind man that has lived in a mostly kind world, if you are struggling to accept that. Glad for you that this is your experience. Fact of the matter is though, 90%+ of people can be propagandized into absolutely anything. And I do mean anything. Its all to easy to spin anything in the direction you want in most peoples eyes. But its even worse than that, actually. Given enough time, you dont even have to sugarcoat what you are saying nor spin it. People will just accept it anyway. Humans are flock living animal with a pretty strict hierarchy in the end. What the higher ups say, is what goes. Thats the harsh truth. You might be familiar with the story from the bible of what Abraham was asked to to with his son, to please god. And he was going to do it as well, before being interrupted. How old is that story? Too many psychological experiments and real world examples throughout history prove it without a doubt.
