I dont doubt it, but to be fair comparisons around the nurburgring between normal drivers say very little about the car, it takes quite a bit of training to go fast around there. As an example I have dusted quite a lot of Ferraris there, as well as any other brand you care to name, in my 2 liter diesel hatchback...

@Tyrael112 Nah, 377 to 800 seem about right for the "competitors". More or less bang on, I would say? BMW M5 1991 to today is almost exactly same ratio/gap.

@michaelorekyeh6431 Faster than 500E, should be about similar to a "hammer". But Hammer was a more or less a "tuner car" after all, and more than twice the price, so not really very comparable.

@pastorofmuppets325 Yes, thats exactly the point I was making as well.

@jonedwards7019 Yeah, I saw it long ago when it aired the first time as well. Though I would say the average speed has become higher since then, even for the "casuals"... I think. Of course, its televeision so they naturally cut it to emphasize the parts that they want to show. Doesnt take anything away from it though. I still see similar transit vans (of the same late 90s-early 2000s vintage) going around sometimes, I can only assume its some kind of humorous attempt to replicate it. I wonder what ever happens to those people, if they do it just for themselves and friends or if the put some video up somewhere?

@armadillolover99 Yeah thats pretty much it. But I think on average people are much faster these days than long ago, even if they havent been there before. Thanks to videogames maybe?

@reeyuh526 Well, even then it used to be hard, though with the fully automated lancuh of today its pretty easy. I doubt most people could get within 1.5 sec of the factory stated 0-60 time of most cars back in the day... Pro drivers are worth their pay sometimes.... at least when testing car performance.

@justins21482 Well its a literal 1000 miles from where I live, so hardly just around the bend. Still, you are right, but I think you could probably get a cheap flight and rent a car there for less money than it takes to drive my car there and back. I recommend it, but try to skip august and the weekends if possible, thats when its jam packed with tourists with varying driving ability. Sometimes you cant even get onto the track before its closed again because of all the crashes...
