Sure but its a "mustang", with heavy air quotes,
18
Honestly I think the E92 M3 GTS is the last one that could be said to be ok "bang for the buck" when it comes to pure speed, if one cares about such things. Maybe. After that, the special M3/M4s seem more like collector cars for sure. At least to me.
13
8.19 with tons of slowdowns and traffic. Cant say much except that Porsche and modern car and tire technology are "miracle workers", really.
10
@dens6960 Full lap vs Tourist lap times.
9
Surely its got quite a bit more aerodynamic drag, one might think?
8
Ever heard of weight? Nothing strange about it.
8
Yes but please call it the CGTT or just GTT, the CGT is traditionally reserved for the Carrera GT, blessed be its name. Amen.
7
@derbigpr500 Are they heavier though? Cant be more than marginally in the real world if that is the case. I think the time is good enough, we are well into dimishing returns here, arguing about 10 seconds or even less seems pointless to me, its not a race car.
6
Dont beat yourself up over it, not many except enthusiast, regardless of age, know about the estate, they are very rare.
5
@osmiumtank Its the same car as the rsq8, more or less....and its about 5, maybe 6 seconds faster in the same conditions. The last few ounces of speed is always gonna cost you, thats how it always is. Even though I certainly wouldnt buy it compared to a normal Cayenne turbo. And no, "Most SUVs" certainly cant do the same from factory, even with a power increase. Take a look at the higher powered jeep trackhawk or Tesla Model X for example. "Some SUVs" would be more correct.
5
2000? Talk about a deal if it was complete and running... Even if it wasnt that was quite cheap. These were collectors cars since released, even if they werent always highly valued.
4
Never heard of it. Disable throttle when on brake at the same time, yes. Applying full brake when both pressed, no.
4
@darekmistrz4364 I would say the opposite, I would rather drive with zero regen... to each their own. In any case, when it came to the older models, I think it overheated more easily when adding more regen, maybe thats still the case and the reson why they did it.
4
To be fair, its a quite old classic. And not easy to drive fast. Should be applauded for taking it to have a bit a fun instead of it collecting dust in a garage. So even if it is "the gear", which I dont think it is these days, I think you could put it in a more charitable way, no one is a pro race driver the first time anyway.
4
@bernhard.k Well, duh. And its not an excuse, its THE explanation. You would be well advised to ignore fanboys and trolls in the future, so you dont get so worked up. Who cares about what they say, its totally uninteresting. Judge any car on its one merits, not what "people" say.
3
The 70k unicorn is a pathetic excuse for getting a good time, you are right. But not as pathetic as cheating, and thats what it is.
3
@daxosm Not true, they are of roughly similar weights, F80 was lighter. Giulia was weighed using "italian" scales.
3
@jhill92 Its not the width, its the diameter. For instance 225/40 and 245/35 are very close in diameter. You should always have the same diameter within a few percent front and rear on an AWD car, yes, even a car such as yours or the computer controlling the awd diff might get mixed up and wear it out and other not desirable effects. Width and permanent AWD has nothing to do with it. For your car 245 35 and 265 35 should be ok, but I would not run more difference than that.

@henryatkinson1479 There seems to be a misunderstanding, thats exactly what I said. If one person has enabled the function, it will be on until someone disables it. Doesnt have to be currently active. i.e. the car currently in a fixed speed. Unless there are market/model year differences I dont know about, you can even shut the engine off in between. But perhaps it is me who misunderstand why you where asking, but in that case I wonder why you asked why the light was on, when you know it is always on once enabled and made active until someone deliberately shuts it off? Why would you shut it off? Unless for some reason like I described in my previous post? Not that it matters much, just a bit curious as to why.
3
The rules are a red herring, a convinent excuse. If not for this, they would have invented something else to get the sponsors team on the podium.
3
@xIcarus227 I would say thats what a lot of them are used for, actually. Why buy a lower horsepower Model S if you got the cash?
3
You are going to be waiting quite some years for an electric win in that case, methinks...
3
And it makes perhaps about 20 seconds difference around a lap in this case, compared to a fully stock car with good sport tires. Maybe worth it, maybe not. To me, its "not" but to each their own. If the owner likes it, more power to him.
2
Maybe so, but were there any track day driving in this video? Looks like normal tourist drive to me...
2
This time was already set im stone long before the lap, by the laws of physics more or less. Nevertheless, I would advise not arguing with fanboys, ever. Its just no use.
2
Hate the game, not the player. Not having a touchscreen means you lose customers, the manufacturers generally try to earn money, not lose.
2
@sergesieniejo1 Yes, I know. Doesnt prove anything in regards to "stock" though. They have no way of knowing that. Its a gentlemens agreement that was broken already decades ago, and not by Tesla.
2
I believe they weigh more than tesla when I see some numbers on an independent scale. For now, I think the opposite is true, even if it isnt an enormous margin.
2
@jhill92 Quite right, but since you wrote "bad for the xdrive to have different width tires" I decided to reply, Its a common misconception after all. Another common misconception is that the aspect ratio number on the tire is not a percetage of the width, but some other number, such as millimeter height. Just looking out for fellow enthusiasts :)
2
Tell me about it, I was at 130 quite a bit before half lap in my BMW 335d... Didnt feel nice to see it but what can you do.
2
The owner saw every deity there is... and seemingly chewed a full course meal while doing it. A day to remember for him, for sure!
2
Crusie control light is lit up on many cars when the function is "enabled", doesnt have to be currently active. Dont know why there is a disable/enable button to begin with though, maybe for safety in case you borrow your car to someone else who might pull the wrong lever, making it active and panic? Like the people you see on surveillance cams plowing into shopping mall windows having pressed the wrong pedal?
2
@henryatkinson1479 I see. Interesting to hear. Thanks!
2
Not sure about that. If there are any, it cant be many. American cars in general arent that common, dont think the C8 will change that all that much.
2
With the stock (factory delivered) tires the e46 certainly was a heck of a lot faster, 25 seconds according to sport auto. Dont know how it would stack up on same tires though.
2
@rustler08 Just about every dyno in europe quotes crank hp. There just isnt any choice, unless you buy and operate a dyno yourself.
2
To be fair, its a quite old classic Viper. Should be applauded for taking it to have a bit a fun instead of it collecting dust in a garage. no one is a pro race driver the first time anyway, so safety first is a good rule.
2
@christian_coulson Absolutely they can. But if its a street car first, why would you? Or perhaps you are simply unconcerned about any accidents, like me.
2
@ligma_nutz Yeah exactly, its not recommended to have them without a cage, just as its not recommended to have a cage without a helmet. Regarding the reinforced pillars thats all well and good, but in a high speed accident, you need a cage. the pillars wont do enough. In any case, I sometimes ride a motorcycle at reasonably high speeds, and if you do that, you are kidding yourself if you arent already comfortable with meeting your maker at any time. Its a tradeoff.
2
100 is normal, thats where you should be more or less. 126, yeah not optimal. I was at 130 before half lap in my BMW sadly.
2
@huzygaming7216 I would wager track temps can give 5 seconds more or less if they shift enough. It really is marginal nitpicking these times I think. Its a street car in the end.
2
@rhett7716 Sorry, dont really get what your are saying here? I am sure suspension and brakes are just fine for any reasonable street driving. Its not a track focused car, in the end.
2
Sub 8 BTG is very possible at full speed even with this heavy car it seems, from this lap. Not bad at all I think.
2
@kenkalajdzic thats right but a current m5 is over 2 ton and still is way faster than 8 minutes full lap. So I would say it is possible the rolls could beat some cheaper hot hatches.
2
Yeah, seems he knows something most of us dont, I didnt think many older M cars were any more "race ready" to speak of? Was an e34 m5 really any more of an "out of the box" track car for example?

Respect!

@tomaszkurowski401 Not surprisingly slow at all, to anyone who knows about cars and nurburgring. So the question is, which one dont you know about? Please have some perspective, and ignore fanboys in the future.
1
@westsiyed Sure, but the a bit tongue in cheek point was that its a toll road from a legal view, and I doubt a lot of people torque their wheels every day going on a normal road. Its best to refer to tourist laps as just going on the nice sunday cruise it legally is, if you ask me.
1
@logitech4873 Sure, but its not a race track during the the driving in this video, thats what I was getting at. Everything you do here, can also be done on the road and vice versa. I dont disagree its good advice, but we cant demand special treatment.
1
@logitech4873 They certainly do, perfectly legal. And this is just one of them, during tourist drives. Hence the name, every vehicle is allowed and normal road rules apply. Its all there in black and white, and easy enough to look up if you so wish. I suggest doing so, its quite fascinating and will help you understand if you ever visit nurburgring during tourist drive opening hours. Cheers.
