Ever heard of weight? Nothing strange about it.

@derbigpr500 Are they heavier though? Cant be more than marginally in the real world if that is the case. I think the time is good enough, we are well into dimishing returns here, arguing about 10 seconds or even less seems pointless to me, its not a race car.

@bernhard.k Well, duh. And its not an excuse, its THE explanation. You would be well advised to ignore fanboys and trolls in the future, so you dont get so worked up. Who cares about what they say, its totally uninteresting. Judge any car on its one merits, not what "people" say.

This time was already set im stone long before the lap, by the laws of physics more or less. Nevertheless, I would advise not arguing with fanboys, ever. Its just no use.
2
@sergesieniejo1 Yes, I know. Doesnt prove anything in regards to "stock" though. They have no way of knowing that. Its a gentlemens agreement that was broken already decades ago, and not by Tesla.
2
I believe they weigh more than tesla when I see some numbers on an independent scale. For now, I think the opposite is true, even if it isnt an enormous margin.
2
@huzygaming7216 I would wager track temps can give 5 seconds more or less if they shift enough. It really is marginal nitpicking these times I think. Its a street car in the end.
2
@rhett7716 Sorry, dont really get what your are saying here? I am sure suspension and brakes are just fine for any reasonable street driving. Its not a track focused car, in the end.
2
@tomaszkurowski401 Not surprisingly slow at all, to anyone who knows about cars and nurburgring. So the question is, which one dont you know about? Please have some perspective, and ignore fanboys in the future.
1
@JohnSmith-pn2vl Not likely if it is supposed to be street legal in Germany.
1
Its not right, but one can forgive them when we are going at these speeds. And probably no weight advantage overall, as said.
1
Was it all stock though? They say so, but... a bit nicer brake pads and such might have slipped in?
1
@sergesieniejo1 Indeed, but I am right. If you would have been around any competition or nurburgring lap record attempt a while, you would realise it as well.
1
@rkan2 Most of the time they can save would be in braking. If they can find streetable brakes that can handle the power and speed, there is quite a lot of time to save. But that is a big if considering the speeds and weight we are talking about here. Dont know if 20+ seconds are possible though with a reasonably streetable car, thats a lot of time.
1
@rkan2 Not sure increased top speed would gain that much, Maths say they would struggle to gain even half of that. Brakes is another matter, but even with carbon ceramics, repeated braking from these speeds with this vehicle weight is no joke. Also, question is if the motors can output much more power for a full lap period without overheating.
1
@louiecarrigan821 Yeah, but power is only useful if you can use it. From teslas video, it wasnt.
1
@louiecarrigan821 Your definition of "terrible" seem a bit hyperbolic to me when the difference in speed is in the single percent range. Cars arent rocket science, any one that cares can make a car that can have a cornering speed within a few percent of the best. The driving experiance might be percieved very differently, of course...
1
@John Henry Power to weight is useful when accelerating and nowhere else, whereas more weight is detrimental both under braking, accelerating and in corners. Nothing strange about it really as I said, anyone who has ever lapped a track or know anything about doing it could tell you this.
1
Then you didnt read the spec sheet well enough, the numbers were always going to give a time like this. I guessed 7.30-7.35 a few weeks ago, wasnt rocket science.
1
@rhett7716 There is no other car in that category, no one else has a mass produced 1000hp hatchback in their lineup. Why 1000hp for going shopping? Why not, I ask. Could be nice to have sometimes, like when overtaking someone. What gave you the impression it cant handle some "demanding driving in the countryside"‽ it seems it certainly can, from what we have seen so far. So can any modern car, more or less.
1
@rhett7716 It certainly is good enough for most people who will buy them, only a infinitesimal amount of buyers will ever take it to the track. Its more than good enough for its intended use. Nobody even really needs more than "shopping car standards" on a normal road anyway in the US, if you intend to stay even remotely legal.
