"Electric transmission"? I think you got something wrong, most automatic cars are torque converter type, same as always, with a few being dual clutch.

I havent driven in poland, but I hope to do in the not too far future. Regarding drving with an automatic, it isnt very strange. At least to me. You just push the pedal. But some people are very "sensitive" to changes and for them I guess it could be scary...

wait, what? Not a single of those cars you mentioned are V4 ? You must have mixed up something with the specifications.

They dont use more fuel depending on car, if they got a modern auto, they are rated for lower fuel consumption even....

This is not true, sadly, It varies greatly between models and type of gearbox. Inheterntly, dual clutches arent superior in the power handling department compared to torque converter ones. In fact, VW had to stop selling the 7 speed DSG passat to taxi companies a few years ago, since that transmission couldnt handle even the standard 2 liter engine for the type of driving taxis got.

@intraxx88 Well yes, but perhaps you can see how your first post as a blanket statement isnt very accurate compared to your second post. That was what I aimed to correct. Seems as you mostly consider the VAG wet clutch technology based ones, in which case, fair enough.

You have to keep in mind all kinds of people from all over the world watches these videos, I doubt very many of them know the intricacies of the different VAG models of DSG gearboxes... This is the perspective I kept in mind, that some of those people would read you first post and misunderstand.

I am in europe and own 2 cars, both of which a autos. Neither of which were even availible to buy as a manual... this is extremely uncommon here. But I drive a manual vehicle at work for many miles every day and own several motorcycles etc so it isnt a big deal. I dont really have a preference personally.

Three speed? Why mention three speed, no US cars has had only three speeds for decades?... Are you mixing it up with torque converters? But Torque converter autos are still most common in europe, I should think.

@sjoukedijkstra7110 Wait, what? 4 speeds weere most common up to the 2000s, then five and 6 speeds in the 2010s and in the 2020s its gone up to 8-10 speeds for common American cars. There certainly wasnt a jump from 3 to 8 for any car I know of.

Well, in effect they are one and the same. "luxury" just means "higher price" for most people, so in that regard they are correct, since the "non luxury" cars are "cheaper to buy and drive" as you say.

Most autos are still torque converter and high spec ones offers the same advantages as dual clutches, more or less.

@sniglom Modern autos have more gears than DCTs. I have not heard of a 9 or 10 speed DCT in a normal car, something that exist in torque converter form.

This type of transmission isnt very common, torque converter type is still the most common, and isnt bad at all these days.

Of course Iwrocker knows about multi valve heads, lots of American V6 and V8s are also 4 valve per cylinder. So it doesnt make any sense to write it that way. More than likely the person making the video dont know much if anything about engines. Which is reasonable considering they didnt seem to know much about cars either.

@peteblazar5515 Excuse me, what do you mean? 4 valve per cylinder heads? Yes, they are. But that isnt relevant to the text in the video. They also did count cylinders in the video. So I am afraid I cant make much sense of what you mean here, if there is any to be found. Can you explain?

@monksuu Well "answering a question" is all fine and dandy. However, there really isnt much of a relevant question to be answered in this case, since as I wrote, writing the number of valves, especially in a "V4" format is irrelevant from the video makers side, and very strange. I can give a similar example, "Why do dogs have 6 legs instead of 3?" The answer isnt, "because it makes them run faster", the real answer is: "they dont have 6 legs, this is a misunderstanding, so the question is misstated to begin with" The only possible reasonable conclusion is as I write above: The maker of the video either mistyped or dont know much about engine configurations in typical cars. No mainstream car in production or in recent years has a V4 engine. Which leaves the other alternative, but the chances of the video maker defining number of valves for just a 3 cylinder engine, but none of the other configurations mentioned has to border on zero if they have enough engine knowledge. It seems far more likely that he indeed misspelled or mistopk inline 4 for V4 cylinder counts, in which case IWrockers "corrected" to I4 is indeed correct. I cant help to think their is a language barrier at play here, with those that are well versed in english vs those that are pretty good, but perhaps not quite good enough to decipher technical details and how they are commonly written completely. Wow you are an odd bird indeed. Most people couldnt stand the poorly reviewed 343, nor the CVT technology itself. Finally I meet someone that genuinly likes it in a car.

@norb0254 Seem that mostly VAG has a stranglehold on the Scottish market then, because the larger cars that traditionally uses autos are still just using torque converter ones. I would think they are more common as autos sold but perhaps there arent many Merc or BMW etc there compared to other places...
