To be honest, there is a tradeoff with the symbol based signs as well: It requires you to know what they mean or being able to figure it out. I can say for sure most people dont know what every sign means, certainly not the more obscure ones. So in the end its a question of if more people driving know how to read and understand it vs how many knows the symbols well enough. Dont think its clear cut, in the US, I would guess the text might actually make more sense considering the primary language and the relatively low training required to drive.

@gorka16 I know, but there are hundreds of signs. Pretty sure no test makes sure you know every last one, so most people dont know or remember all of them.

@jesusperezvigil4824 I know for sure you dont where I live, and I seriously doubt you do where you live, or else the test would take a very long time, and require 100% correct answers. Is that really the case and if so, where do you live?

@Jin.Sensei Sure, but I didnt say otherwise. In fact, I said the exact opposite. But when you drive, you can get by fine just knowing the most common ones. Thats how most people do it.
