  3. US is US. LR is a purely luxury brand in the US as well, no need for any "industrial/workhosre" engine options.

  4. A few reasons: Pollution. Gas milage not being as important. Lower (until modern times) horsepower. Worse quality fuel that dont suit european diesels.

  5. Depends on what you mean by "petrol equiavalent"... In the end, average in gear horsepower is what matters for acceleration. Which means it depends on lots of factors.
