  2. Not just US, Lots of kind of similar stuff (well, maybe not the fifth wheel part) was availible to buy in europe back in the day, but it was never all that popular compared to regular tow hitch coupled caravans.

  3. Marketing and liability I would say are the reasons why cars are not used much anymore. Thats really why "trucks" in general are so much more popular.
