  3.  @barryford1482  Hi Barry. Depends on how technical one wants to get... Its the length at the equator that can be said to correspond to 1/60th degree of latitude, not longitude. Take a look at this picture, if you will: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nautical_mile#/media/File:Nautic_mile_definition_v2_English.svg So yeah, it can be pretty confusing. But perhaps thats what you meant, and I simply misunderstood you. Apologies if so. English is not my first language. Cheers.

  5. Lots of "legacy products" that arguably originated in the US are measured in inches (just about) everywhere. Car wheels is one example, televisions/monitors/screens and loudspeaker cones being some others.
