Heres a thing Americans dont seem to get (you included, seemingly?): We dont really have "dangerously slow" cars here.... even if they are "slow". Because being "slow" in the way a 50hp car is, isnt really dangerous here. Better road layout and better drivers makes low power cars, as far as I know, a non issue in regards to safety. 07:43 Yes, this exact car has a WRC variant.. which was champion multiple times.

@flo2677 What is a "mini car" to you? regarding the "regular sedans" (Dont know what you would class as such,presumably larger than this in your mind), thats absolutely not the case. You are mistaken. There is absolutely no way sedans outnumber hatchbacks in europe. You must have seen some bad statistics or take your data from exclusively a very specific area, not the whole of europe.

Whats dumb about it?

@shaggings Pretty solid research since long, long ago show they increase visibility even in daylight and decreases accidents. Question really was why it took until dedicated "DRL" light and legistation for the rest of the world to catch up. What surprises me is is if you got no auto dipped beam on when engine is on, but have to put it n manually? Here in Sweden where the dipped beam/DRL legislation comes from, all cars have it auto since the law was took effect, as far as I know. So since the 1970s or so.

14:00 Its not the "Torque", thats just a common myth/misnomer; what it really is, is more low end power . If you got a turbocharger, that is. But those comparisons are mostly to petrol cars without a turbocharger. If the petrol car also got one, its not always that different in practice. Now regarding "roll off the clutch", yes AND no. No, in as much as you havent got the turbo spooling yet at idle, so the diesel wont make much power. But yes in the sense that you can get almost any car (certainly anyone you are likely to have driven) rolling on flat ground without giving it throttle from idle.... if you slip the clutch long enough.

They know as much as anyone else. Keep in mind, they are as much a "car nation" as all countries are "fridge nations" i.e just because you use a thing everyday, doesnt mean you got any deeper interest in it.

Its more fun than most of the pick ups Americans travel round in.. thats his reference, so its a fair comment he made.

You mean 2.5k, not 25k. Also, french cars arent bad at all really overall, and more or less leading in some areas such as rust protection vs cost.

The light stuff depends heavily on what country, he as asking about in europe in general.

@automation7295 Who said the dont accept if some prefer it without. I see no such comment here. Its much more statistically likely a person who say they "dont like ABS" is maybe not a "bad", but at least dangerous driver. Same as with DSC, etc. Note: I said statistically.

yes, and same for a petrol if you ride the clutch long enough.

@olisipocity Indeed.
