@FTZPLTC It means you are endorsed by twitter. Simple as that. Thats where the "status symbol" comes from, but it currently has nothing to do with verifying people are who they say they are. checkmark = Endorsed by twitter.

@austinjones8964 No, the purpose currently is to show you are endorsed by twitter, since thats how it works. If you are not endorsed, not only do you not get one; if you already have one, you will lose your checkmark, no matter how real you are.

@FTZPLTC Nope, all of it was true. Show me something I wrote that isnt. If it was about verifying people are genuine, how is it possible to lose your verification for going against twitters undisclosed guidelines (not impersonating someone else). Makes no sense. Since they removed the checkmark from people that twitter "dont like", that only leaves the explanation that the ones who get it and still have it, are endorsed by twitter. In twitters TOS, it says "Twitter may remove the Verified status of an account at any time without notice", not just for impersonating others. Q E D.
