Yeah, they are not meant to be funny (or even "pranks") in the first place, so that realizaation already happened from the start, and wont change anything. Its about the attention for the streamer, and wishing it was them for the watcher.

@peger Well, as I said above, even if they (the 11 year olds) are laughing, its not because they are having fun. Its much more insidious than that. They are watching because this is wish fulfillment for them. They feel better imagining it was them (by proxy) who got the attention and power. They, in effect, get to feel the some of the satisfaction of being a bully through their screen, without having to do anything themselves.

@peger Stuff explicitly like this? If that was the case, then its quite likely it was the part of your brain that needed that "power" stimulation after all, like I wrote above. There are many reasons, lots of them subconscious, why people laugh, its rarely because something is just plain "funny" (which is very hard to quantify anyway).

@peger Good for you that it wasnt, because anyone seriously craving this kind of stimulation has issues, be they enviromentally induced or otherwise. Just a bit further down the hole are people watching (and liking doing so) videos of animals getting mistreated etc. Its not a good situation to be in for any part of your life. Cheers mate.
