@ReaperSymbiote I just gave the reason why kids think its "cool", answering the OP question. Havent mentioned anything else. The recent "uptick" is mostly because social media gives a larger platform, increasing the reward/risk ratio for the kids.

@ReaperSymbiote It was "cool" way before anyone glorified it though. The basis is a genetic urge, as old as humans.

@Youareyourcoupons1 You actually got that backwards regarding society: Trends like these and "teenage rebellion" is only deemed acceptable in places where things are very easy and people are rich, relatively speaking. In the old days, and still today in the poorer part of the world, there is no time for stuff like this, you are working 12 hour shifts in the fields or factory already from a pre teen age. So stuff like this only proves what an abundance of wealth there is compared to that.

@ballsdeep420 Well, the foundation is what wrote, as far as science is concerned. Numerous psychological and evolutionary studies about this, its the accepted scientific explanation currently.
